UIDAI: No Truth to Aadhaar Leak

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently refuted reports which said that the country’s national ID card project had been breached.

Tech website ZDNet reported last week that a New Delhi-based security researcher discovered that India’s Aadhaar had a vulnerability that exposed the sensitive information of individuals such as their names, bank details, and their unique 12-digit identity numbers.

However, UIDAI said that the reports were completely untrue and even threatened to take legal action against ZDNet. ZDNet’s global editor-in-chief Larry Dignan meanwhile, said that their organization is standing by the report and had been reaching out to the Indian government about the issue for weeks already.
