17 Nov UC Browser Taken Down from Play Store Due to Privacy Concerns
Earlier this week, users reported that Alibaba’s UC Browser had apparently been taken down from Google’s Play Store. Many suspect that the removal had been prompted by reports accusing the browser of harvesting personal data of Indian users, then sending it back to a server in China.
UCWeb responded to the media, saying that Google found a certain setting in the browser to be against its policy. However, the problem has already been fixed and the new version of the app is just awaiting approval.
The company added that it is fully cooperating with Google on the issue, and suggests that users download the UC Browser Mini for the meantime.
