26 Apr Uber to Stop Keeping Precise Pick-up, Drop-Off Logs
Uber told the media this week that it is planning to provide users and drivers more privacy by slightly obscuring exact pick-up and drop-off location. The move is expected to yield a compromise between the rider’s safety concerns and driver’s need for precise logs which are often used for challenging fare disputes.
An Uber spokesperson said that the pilot of location obfuscation feature will be rolled out once all drivers have the new app.
It has been said that Uber is also trying to avoid further exposure to the GDPR as precise location logs may be considered personal data that the company will have to provide to European users requesting their information.
