29 Nov Uber PH Confirms Philippines Affected by 2016 Breach
Last Tuesday, National Privacy Commission (NPC) head Raymond Liboro said that the personal data of Uber users in the Philippines had been compromised, as confirmed by the company to his office.
However, Liboro added that Uber did not provide all the necessary information required from personal information controllers in the event of a breach, such as the number of affected individuals.
Uber is currently being probed by regulators around the world for delaying the disclosure of a hacking incident that hit the company in 2016. Liboro also revealed that the NPC is currently working with US and Australian data privacy authorities, and warned that Filipinos found to be involved in the concealment of the breach will be charged with civil and criminal liability under Data Privacy Act of 2012.
