U.S Authorities Listened to 3.3 Million Phone Calls with a Single Wiretap Order

Under a single wiretap order, US authorities have listened in and recorded millions of phone calls last year. The wiretap order was authorized following a narcotics case inquiry.

Reports say that an unknown government agency intercepted in real-time about 3.29 million calls in a span of two months to help track 26 individuals allegedly involved in Pennsylvanian illegal drug and narcotic-related activities.

The wiretap led to a dozen arrests and cost $335,000. The result was included but not highlighted in the US Court’s annual wiretap report.
