Trend Micro: GDPR May Improve PH Cybersecurity

Trend Micro  recently said in its new report that EU’s new data protection rules may spur the Philippines into improving its own data protection practices.

The company adds that the GDPR also affects all companies based in the Philippines that handle the data of EU citizens. Trend Micro’s Director for Technology Marketing Myla Pilao said that the GDPR effectively makes state-of-the-art data security the new standard across the globe since companies everywhere have no choice but to comply with the regulation.

Pilao further explained that compliance with the stricter data protection rules encourage consumer confidence despite the growing threat of cybersecurity breaches, and prevents unfair access to consumer data.
