Tory Minister Launches Flawed Social Networking App

Tory minister Matt Hancock was recently ridiculed for launching an app that had a gaping privacy hole which allows it to access photos in the user’s device even if it is denied permission.

Hancock, the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, was also put in charge of data protection in the country. However, the developer of the Matt Hancock app, Disciple, insisted that the feature was intentional and not a bug.

Disciple further explained that it is a feature in iOS, and that Android versions of the app are not affected, but experts say the app may be in violation of Apple’s Privacy Guidelines and the Data Protection Act, which Hancock was asked to oversee.
