20 Apr Telegram CEO Fights Russia Ban with Bitcoin
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov recently announced that he will be resisting Russia’s moves against privacy by launching a “digital resistance” where he will be funding pro-privacy tech organizations.
Telegram was recently banned in Russia for not giving up private user data to the country’s federal security service. Durov also said that Telegram’s built-in features, along with a VPN, would be able to circumvent the ban, but Russia responded by blocking millions of IP addresses owned by Google and Amazon.
Durov further revealed that he is planning to create an underground network of servers and VPN providers funded with Bitcoin to support a global fight for privacy and data protection.
