07 Feb Strava Rethinks Key Feature Over Recent Privacy Issues
Fitness tracking app company Strava recently confirmed that they have disabled a key tracking feature in their app.
The Segments feature was first noticed to have been offline by users from Reddit. According to the company, they are currently reviewing the feature which was designed as a motivational tool for athletes and ensuring that it won’t be used by attackers to compromise the user’s privacy.
The move seems to have been prompted by the recent privacy issues the fitness app has caused for the US military and other armed forces. Strava CEO James Quarles assured the public that they are taking the matter seriously and that the company is taking responsibility for the data their user’s share with them.
