South Korean Startup to Use Blockchain for Medical Recordkeeping

Seoul-based tech startup MediBloc recently revealed that it is looking to use blockchain technology in its new patient-centered medical recordkeeping system.

Founders Kho Woo-kyun and Lee Eun-sol said that their system will give patients ownership of their medical records, as opposed to traditional systems where records are managed by hospitals. They added that by basing the platform on blockchain, the patient-kept records are sure to be authentic all the time. Since it will essentially create a central database that holds the patient’s data, the system will also lower costs for lessen inconvenience for both patients and hospitals.

MediBloc is also planning to come up with a system that rewards users with Meditokens” every time patient data is entered into MediBloc’s platform.
