05 Jan Sesame Credit Apologizes for Alipay Privacy Mishap
Earlier this week, Ant Financial issued an apology due to privacy violations committed to Alipay users by its credit scoring system Sesame Credit. It was reported that Sesame’s service agreement tickbox had already been checked even before users had the chance to check their e-bills.
The service agreement was also displayed in a font size that some users found to be too small to notice. Because of this, a number of users had automatically consented to the agreement and unknowingly gave Sesame Credit their information.
After the complaints, Ant Financial cancelled the automatic feature and informed users how to remove their authorization from the platform.
