14 Mar Security Flaws Could Turn Cams Into Spying Tools
According to the latest research from Kaspersky Lab, security vulnerabilities in smart cameras such as baby monitors could be exploited by hackers for surveillance and data theft.
The security company said that they have found a number of such flaws with cameras manufactured by Hanwha Techwin, a Korean company. Kaspersky Lab also said that hackers could steal personal information such as the user’s social network account, and even brick the device.
It was noted that hackers could only carry out the attacks if they know the device’s serial number. However, Kaspersky said that the information was relatively easy to find out given the way the serial numbers were generated.
