03 Jan Russian Court to Hear Telegram Lawsuit vs FSB
Russia’s Supreme Court has accepted a case brought by lawyers of messaging platform Telegram against the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on March 20.
Telegram is challenging FSB’s decree number 432 which seeks to obtain data for decoding encrypted messages. The messaging app had already been fined $13,600 for refusing to give Russian authorities information to decode communications that may have been related to the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg.
Telegram was also criticized by the Europol chief who complained that they have not been getting the same level of cooperation as that given by companies such as Facebook and Twitter.
