Researchers Develop New “Privacy Aware” Security Method for AI

Researchers from the University of Helsinki and Aalto University recently claimed to have developed a new method for machine learning which preserves privacy by revealing only a limited amount of information on the data subject.

The new “privacy aware” method is based on the differential privacy concept also used by Apple. According to assistant professor Antti Honkela, this eliminates the need to give a single party unrestricted access to all the data.

The AI security method is expected to initially be applied to industries such as medicine, where it can be used to predict the efficacy of cancer drugs using gene expression.
