15 Mar Privacy Complaint Filed Against vs Pro-Admin Bloggers
The blogger behind Pinoy Ako recently filed a civil complaint against pro-administration bloggers Rey Joseph “Thinking Pinoy” Nieto and Allantroy Rogando “Sass” Sasot for allegedly violating the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Jover Laurio, a critic of the Duterte administration, accused Nieto and Sasot of “doxing” as they had “maliciously and with ill intent, collected, recorded, consolidated, and published, without authorization” her name and credentials. Laurio says that she had received harassing and threatening messages both publicly and privately due to the exposure of her contact information, prompting her to take a leave of absence both from law school and work.
Laurio is seeking for a total of P2,150,000 in damages, along with attorney’s fees and complaint filing costs.
