Privacy.com Provides “Burner” Service for Financial Account Numbers

Several tech publications have recently reported about a service called Privacy.com which provides “burner” card numbers to protect the user’s real financial account numbers online.

Privacy.com generates a different “disposable” card number for a particular site so that the user will not have to risk using his real card or bank account number on the internet. Customers who sign up for the service can create either a one-time burner card number, or one that is locked to a particular site.

It is said that using additional layers of anonymity and security such as Privacy.com can significantly improve the protection of user data.
