Privacy Breaches Discourage Consumers from Shopping via IoT

A recent report by Worldpay showed that consumers from Singapore, China, and Australia do not prefer to shop using their IoT devices due to privacy and hacking fears.

In its Connected Consumer report, around 70% out of 6,043 respondents believe that the information they pass thru the devices may either get stolen by hackers, or used or shared by manufacturers without thier consent.

Worldpay general manager in the Asia Pacific Phil Pomford said that delegating menial tasks such as shopping to machines would free up an extra bit of time for consumers, but they need to be given confidence that the devices can be trusted and that owners are ultimately informed and in control.
