30 Sep Privacy Alarms Go Off as Mattel Gadget Eavesdrop of Babies
Famous toy creator Mattel Inc. has revealed plans for a monitoring device that listens and watches over infants. It will be able to record sleep patterns and play a lullaby should the baby wake up in the middle of the night.
A gadget eavesdropping on children has raised concerns over privacy. Center for Digital Currency Executive Director Jeff Chester said that this allows the company to obtain different kind of personal information such as the child’s food preference, the music they respond to – data that can be shared or sold to advertisers.
Aristotle was announced in January. The gadget comes with a camera, lights, a speaker and uses Qualcomm Inc. processors along with Microsoft Corp programming.
