05 Apr Popular Live Chat Widget Found to be Leaking Data
Security researchers recently found that a popular live chat widget used by a number of high-profile websites has been leaking the sensitive data of employees.
The widgets, provided by LiveChat and TouchCommerce, are said to leak the information of the support staffer which could include his real name, company email address, employee ID, support center name, location, supervisor name, supervisor ID, or software used by the employee. The information could be used to impersonate, access employee tools, and even gain hold of the company’s internal network.
Tech website Bleeping Computer said that only LiveChat has responded to them and promised to address the issue.
