19 Sep PH Privacy Commission Eyes Data Privacy Act Compliance
The National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines is now ready for regulators and processors of private data who will ensure compliance. This step comes after the country’s Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012 took effect on September, 9, 2016.
An NPC advisory no. 2017-01 concerning the Designation of Data Protection Officers mandates any institution to assign a Data Protection Officer (DPO) who will be responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with the DPA and NPC rules and other privacy and data protection laws.
The NPC is preparing to launch an online registration tool to assist companies and organizations.
