07 Mar Open Rights Group: Adult Sites Age Verification Software a Privacy Risk
The Open Rights Group recently warned against the new age-verification software which is to be used by adult websites, calling it a “treasure” of private information that will be at risk of a breach.
In light of the new law which seeks to protect minors from explicit content online set to take effect next month, ORG legal director Myles Jackman stated that the data collected by the current age-verification process used by Mindgeek, which owns PornHub, YouPorn, and RedTube, could be mishandled and used to exploit people’s sexual preferences.
Jackman added that the new regulations may only drive people to use virtual peer networks to access adult sites.
