05 May Ontario Law Firm Sues Facebook for Privacy Violations
It was reported this week that Ontario-based law firm Siskinds LLP had filed a class action lawsuit against Facebook for unlawful invasion of privacy caused by its involvement in the scandal with Cambridge Analytica.
The complainants are seeking $62,216,100 CAD in damages plus an additional $1,000 for all Canadian users affected by the breach. The suit, however, does not include Cambridge Analytica, but only Facebook and its Canadian subsidiary.
Facebook declined to comment and instead directed the media to a March 2018 blogpost by VP and deputy general counsel Paul Grewal.
