Online Regulations Powerless in Preventing Adtech Firms from Collecting Data from Kids

A recent study by ‘kid-tech’ platform SuperAwesome suggested that adtech companies are still able to collect more than 72m data points on children 13 and under.

The data was derived from the number of ad trackers stripped by the platform’s ad exchange called ‘Rex’. While the study did not specify any particular vendors, it showed that kids are exposed to around 1m to 2m trackers per year, regardless of how they access digital content.

SuperAwesome said that adtech players harvest data which include location and visited sites using trackers such as pixels, cookies, and beacons.
