16 Dec NPC to Probe Uber’s Data Processing Information
It was reported yesterday that the data of around 171,000 Filipino citizens had been affected in Uber’s data breach in 2016. In an ongoing probe into the matter, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) had asked officials of the company to further explain Uber’s organizational, technical and physical security measures meant for the protection of their user’s data.
NPC Commissioner Raymund Enriquez Liboro said that his office is focusing its attention to the steps Uber will be taking to ensure that data breaches of this magnitude will not be concealed from both regulators and affected data subjects should one ever occur again.
Uber Philippines previously admitted that it had failed to submit to the commission information on the data breach, such as the scope of exposure.
