NPC Launches Campaign for LGU Compliance

At the LGU Data Protection Officers’ (DPOs) Assembly last week, Privacy Commissioner Raymund Enriquez Liboro announced the launch of a campaign in which the National Privacy Commission (NPC) will be helping local government units (LGUs) process their compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Liboro said that the rigorous enforcement of data privacy safeguards by LGU’s would improve local government administration and enhance social services, since most Filipinos experience government service on a more personal level. He added that it would also ready the region for economic benefits brought by the emerging knowledge economy.

In the gathering, the agency also furnished Davao government DPO’s with the second edition of the NPC Privacy Toolkit.
