New Mexico Lawmakers to Reconsider Privacy Rules on Police Cam Recordings

Last Wednesday, Republican Senator Sander Rue of Albuquerque and House Democrat proposed that a community task force be convened by the attorney state general to consider access restrictions of the public to police lapel camera recordings.

The Senator said that the legislative is moving to address privacy concerns regarding the use of cameras when police respond to mental health-related calls. The group would be tasked to recommend laws that will protect the mental and physical health information of individuals from disclosure in police recordings.
