06 Mar New LTE Flaw Allows Hackers to See User Messages, Location
Researchers at Purdue University and the University of Iowa recently divulged ten new 4G network flaws which can be exploited to eavesdrop on phone and SMS messages, spoof emergency alerts, and even take devices offline.
According to the researchers, the bugs were caused by the lack of proper authentication, encryption, and replay protection in the important protocol messages, and they have already verified 8 out of 10 to be working using SIM cards from four major US carriers.
They also revealed that almost anyone can build the tools used for the attacks for as low as $1,300.
