30 Mar New Facebook Privacy Changes Not Applicable to Instagram, WhatsApp
CNBC reported this week that Facebook failed to mention in its announcement last Wednesday if Instagram and WhatsApp will be included in the privacy changes it will be initiating to address issues raised by its scandal involving Cambridge Analytica.
CNBC pointed out that Instagram’s terms of service has not been updated since 2013, and the platform still gathers information on websites users click on while using the service. Meanwhile, WhatsApp’s terms says that it can access the numbers of WhatsApp users and other contacts in the user’s mobile phone address book on a regular basis.
Instagram is estimated to have 800 million monthly users, while WhatsApp has around 1.5 billion.
