New Cisco Study Says Data Privacy Problems Can Cause Sales Delay

According to a recent study by Cisco called “Privacy Maturity Benchmark Study”, around 65% of companies around the world experience significant sales cycle delays due to privacy issues.

The survey interviewed close to 3000 security professionals from 25 countries. Two-thirds said that data privacy issues such as engineering issues, can cause delays of up to 7.8 weeks.

A fifth of the respondents also rated their company’s “privacy maturity level” using a model based on the GAPP (Generally Accepted Privacy Principles) which has 5 levels: ad hoc, repeatable, defined, managed and optimized. This survey showed that more privacy-mature companies reported lower losses, with the optimized group reporting only an average of 3.4 weeks of delays. The mature group reported 39% losses, while the most privacy-immature had 74% losses due to cyber attacks in 1 year.
