29 Nov Millions of Devices Remain Unsecured in Europe
A report by Trend Micro last Tuesday says that around a million devices such as printers, webcams, and network gears remain vulnerable after the massive denial-of-service attack that hit major European cities last year.
The report stated that Berlin had the most number of unsecured devices at 2.8 million, followed by London at around 2.5 million. Rome had the lowest number among the 10 capitals at only 300,000.
A search engine for IoT devices called Shodan was used to calculate the number of unprotected devices. Trend Micro also urged owners to take measures to protect their devices, as most of these gadgets may lack sufficient security features due to the manufacturer’s shortcomings.
