Media Papers Reveal UIDAI Shared Aadhar Data with Private Companies

Documents obtained by the Times of India revealed that the Unique Identification Development Authority of India (UIDAI) had shared Aadhaar data with several companies which used it for proof-of-concept studies.

Experts have said that even though the data was shared under a non-disclosure agreement, the UIDAI’s only recourse in the event of a leak would be to sue the company. UIDAI, however, said that it already took all the necessary precautions, and that it had only shared sanitized sample data created specifically for the PoC study, and not the original actual data.
