Massive Malaysian Data Breach Compromises 46.2 Million Mobile Numbers

Additional information on a data breach in Malaysia rumored earlier this month has recently surfaced, and it is said that around 46.2 million mobile phone numbers may have been compromised.

According to Lowyat.net, data including home addresses and SIM card information of major telco subscribers may have also been leaked. The same website was the same one which received and published info that the data was being sold in underground forums.

Reports also said that personal information on websites such as Jobstreet.com, the Malaysian Medical Association, and the Malaysian Housing Loan Applications may have been included in the leak.

Malaysia’s population is only around 31.2 million, and it is said that some of the compromised numbers may include multiple numbers owned by individuals, as well as temporary or inactive ones.
