07 Nov Marketer Says Amount of Data Collected from Children Will Scare Parents
The founder of SuperAwesome, a “kid safe” marketing platform, recently blasted ad tech companies for harvesting a “horrific” amount of online data from minors.
Dylan Collins said that this practice happens despite laws that prevent ad retargeting to users of such age. He also added that these companies are likely to receive privacy backlash from children, rather than their parents, since users over 21 often take data-harvesting as normal.
On the subject of the GDPR, he said that it will set a new gold standard in global online privacy protection, and may push the age limit of consent for children upward.
Collins will be speaking at the Mumbrella360 Asia 2017, a media and marketing conference which will be held in Singapore this week.
