26 Sep Malacanang Justifies Redaction to Cabinet’s SALNs, Cites Privacy Act
Last Monday, the presidential spokesperson clarified that the redactions made to the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs) of the President’s Cabinet were consistent with the Data Privacy Act.
Ernesto Abella reiterated that a full disclosure of the summarized amounts has already been made, and assets, liabilities and net worth were kept unchanged. Only personal data such as family members and home addresses had been redacted.
However, the PCIJ noted that some information such as acquisition costs and exact locations of real properties were blacked out, calling the report a “complete reversal” of PRRD’s executive order on Freedom of Information.
