17 Aug LinkedIn Loses Data Privacy Case
Last Monday, a federal judge ruled against LinkedIn in a case involving the alleged illegal downloading of their user data by hiQ Labs.
Judge Edward Chen pointed out that by blocking hiQ from obtaining professional data to feed its analytic engine, the Microsoft-owned professional networking site would have “kneecaped” its competitor out of self-interest since it already provides the data to third parties.
LinkedIn expressed its disappointment with the court’s ruling, saying that they will continue to fight the case in court to protect their user’s ability to control the info they put on the website.
