07 Mar Lawmakers Mull Bill Protecting Student Privacy on Social Media
The US Senate is scheduled to debate a bill this Thursday which seeks to protect the social media privacy of students and workers.
The bill which is being considered by Massachusetts lawmakers seeks to prohibit colleges and universities from requiring students to surrender their usernames and passwords to their personal social media accounts. The bill also prohibits teachers, coaches and school employees from forcing students to give up their login details to be able to participate in certain activities.
The bill will also cover workers who may be asked by their employers to provide such information.
