Israeli Startup Develops “Facial Recognition Firewall”

Israeli startup D-ID recently announced that it has developed technology which can foil instances of facial recognition to help users preserve their privacy and protect their identities.

According to Gil Perry, D-ID’s CEO, it is impossible to alter one’s face unlike passwords, which is why user photos have to be protected. He says that D-ID’s system can subtly alter a user’s picture so that facial recognition algorithms are unable to identify it. However, the differences may not immediately be obvious to a person.

D-ID said that it has already planned a pilot with cloud images company Cloudinary, and agreements with several government organizations.
