10 Feb Irish Government May Get Sued by 3 Million Citizens Over PSC ID
Earlier this week, solicitor Simon McGarr warned that there is a possibility that the State could get sued by as much as 3 million Irish citizens over privacy issues regarding the Public Services Card.
McGarr, considered to be the top privacy lawyer in Ireland, told an Oireachtas Committee on Employment Affairs and Social Protection that the PSCs will go against the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
He additionally warned that it could be a costly affair for the state as each of the 3 million could make a claim, and the total amount may run up to billions.
