20 Aug iPhones Without iOS 11 Vulnerable to Password Cracking Hardware
Last Friday, YouTube user EverythingApplePro uploaded a video demonstration showing how an iPhone 7 can be unlocked by a $500 password cracking box similar to hardware used by law enforcement.
The box is only able to unlock iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and some 6 and 6S models that use a 4-digit pass code. The pass code also needs to have been changed very recently, only then can the password box be used to launch a rapid, repeated password guesses within 10 minutes.
Apple has confirmed that it will be patching the bug in the final version of iOS 11, while iOS 11 beta 4 has already been patched.
