22 Nov IoT Devices Pick Up in APAC Despite Data Leak Fears
It was shown in the Internet Society’s latest annual study that while APAC consumers are rapidly adopting IoT devices, many are still fearful of the privacy risks brought by the technology.
Around 81 percent of consumers who said that they own, or are planning to buy more IoT devices still fear that their personal data might be leaked by their devices. Meanwhile, 71 percent said that they fear being monitored by their devices without their knowledge.
Some 75 percent say that they may buy another device within the next 12 months, while 60 percent of the respondents who do not own an IoT device said that uncertainty of their personal data’s security discouraged them to buy one.
