Industry Players Call UK Public Register a “Redundant” Privacy Problem

A number of property industry players recently expressed their opposition to the planned public register which will reveal the identities of final buyers of UK property who use offshore companies.

Director of Peterson Group Belinda Ng said that the existing system is already stringent and revealing the buyer’s identities won’t do much good.

Juwai.com CEO Carrie Law meanwhile said that property ownership information should be protected like tax data and should not be made public. Law pointed out that London is an international crossroads and other governments may use the sensitive information to persecute political enemies.
