30 Nov HP Stealthily Installs Intrusive, Computer-Slowing App
HP users have complained about a recent update that included an software called “HP Touchpoint Analytics Service”, saying that the app significantly slowed their computer down.
Moreover, HP seems to have installed the software without getting prior consent from users. Even though the driver can easily be uninstalled, the questionable method of delivery raised some privacy-related concerns.
HP responded to the issue and stated that the app is part of a service that has been offered since 2014, and it only collects diagnostic information about hardware performance. The company added that their privacy policy has not changed and customers can opt-out whenever they want to.
