14 Nov Hackers Claim to Have “Broken” iPhone Face ID with Mask
Last Friday, Vietnamese security company Bkav claimed to have fooled the iPhone’s Face ID using a 3D-printed composite mask.
In a blog post, the firm says that it has already established back in 2008 that facial recognition is not a particularly effective security measure, and Apple’s Face ID is no different. They also released a video which supposedly showed how their special 3D mask unlocked an iPhone equipped with Face ID.
Bkav also claimed that the mask was made with cheap materials and only cost around $150, as opposed to other trials that cost thousands of dollars, such as the ones done by tech website Wired, which were not successful.
