In Google’s recent Transparency Report that covers January to June of this year, it has consistently shown that the search engine company has been the main channel that governments use when they need information on people.

Because of the wide array of services Google offers, this can include emails from Gmail, Google services that has stored photos and documents, and YouTube videos.

In the report, Google shares it had gotten data requests of up to 48,941 for 83,345 accounts. Last year, the tech giant received 44,943 queries from 76,613 accounts. Out of that number, the US government have sent half of those requests.
