Google Still Tracks User Location Even When Feature is Disabled

Tech website Quartz recently revealed that Google has admitted to collecting user location data even when the feature is turned off.

The article says that most Android phones began to collect addresses of nearby cellular towers since January 2017. The location data is then sent back to Google once an internet connection is present.

Google justified the feature, saying that it helps improve message delivery. However, many have said that it was not made clear in Google’s Privacy Policy, and users still have the impression that their location data is not being collected and submitted if the feature is turned off.
