Former Soldier Leads Class Action Against Facebook

A man named Edward Poljak is reportedly leading a class action privacy lawsuit against Facebook in Australia which he says should encourage the public to be more mindful of what they share on social media.

The former soldier said that he decided to pursue legal action when he was informed that his data might have been affected in the Cambridge Analytica breach. He added that the breach could put his friends who work in law enforcement and the military at significant risk.

It is said that should the lawsuit be successful, Facebook could be compelled by the Privacy Commissioner to pay a certain amount of money to the users covered by the complaint, which can then be enforced in a formal class action in the Federal Court.
