03 Feb Florida Lawmakers Pushes for Voter Information Privacy
It was recently reported that Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer and other election experts in Florida are pushing for the enactment of a broad new public records exemption for the latest session.
Brevard Supervisor Lori Scott said that there are incidents where “shaming mailers” run a campaign where they seek the home addresses of people for various reasons, and them mail them to falsely accuse them of not being registered to vote.
Rep. Cyndi Stevenson, R-St. Johns, who filed a bill to keep voter information secret, confirmed and said that they do receive similar calls and said that the accessibility to such information can subjects private citizens to commercial solicitation and harassment.
