12 Jan Few Android Phones Expected to Copy Face ID Feature in 2018
A number of industry sources have commented that phone makers in China are not in a hurry to develop features such as fast charging, wireless charging, or FaceID for Android, as vendors seem to be more interested in disposing of their unsold stocks.
Another factor that may be inhibiting the adoption of FaceID is the slow yield rates for the production of components, which also plagued Apple when it began mass producing the iPhone X. Additionally, development of 3D-sensing technology similar to the TrueDepth camera system in the iPhone which makes FaceID possible will mean more time and money for Android phone makers.
Experts say that while some Android phones may feature similar technology in early 2018, it may not be as complex as that of Apple’s.
