28 Feb FBI Now Has Capability to Unlock iPhones
Major government contractor Cellebrite recently said that it has discovered how to unlock all iPhones, including the latest model, the iPhone X.
The Petah Tikva, Israel-based vendor has claimed that its engineers now have the ability to bypass the security of devices running iOS 5 to 11. It is said that authorities who wish to unlock a particular iPhone have to send it to Cellebrite’s lab, with unlocking services costing just around $1500.
The FBI may have already tried Cellebrite’s services in a case involving an iPhone X of a suspected arms trafficker named Abdulmajid Saidi. It wasn’t revealed however, how the police was able to get the data from the phone.
