Facebook Wants to Give People Power Over their Privacy

In a recent exclusive report, Facebook’s deputy chief privacy officer Rob Sherman said that the Indian government should address the privacy needs of its citizens while promoting innovation and economic growth in the creation of its new data protection laws.

In his recent visit to India, Sherman said that the best privacy laws around the world are based on broad principles and allow people to decide what to share and whom to share to. He also sought to collect insights on how the Menlo-based social networking company can align their privacy policies with India’s needs.

Sherman added that Facebook is devoting funds in machine learning and AI to improve the company’s products and to curb the proliferation of issues such as fake profiles.
